OpenIO unveils object storage-based appliance

OpenIO on Thursday announced OpenIO SLS-4U96, an open source-based, ARM storage appliance that uses high capacity drives and attaches to the network via 40Gbps Ethernet.

The OpenIO SLS-4U96 is a serverless appliance that uses a Marvel Armada-3700 Dual core ARM v8 @1.2Ghz processor. It can scale to as many as 96 nodes, each with a 3.5” HDD or SSD and dual 2.5Gb/s SGMII ports, dual 6-port 40Gb/sec Ethernet backend Marvell Prestera family switches for external connectivity and N+1 power supplies.
